The one-year Leadership Training Program was designed by FLY graduates who wanted to help other youth as well as give back to their communities. Each youth works with a case manager to set and achieve goals around education, employment, health and family relationships. The program includes a three-day retreat in leadership, volunteerism, and community activism. They brainstorm enhancements, design community service projects, and meet monthly to implement the projects.

Community service projects have included:

  • Cleaning rooms at houses of families with terminally ill children
  • Visiting senior citizens
  • Serving food at homeless shelters
  • Building and maintaining a garden at an inner city park
  • Helping teach FLY's law courses
