Community Resources Coordinator

Purpose:

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Community Resources (CR) Coordinator to join our Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating a full range of activities to expand and strengthen FLY's individual donor fundraising program including but not limited to: donor outreach, fundraising, event planning and execution, communications, and grant writing. The Community Resources Coordinator reports to the Director of Community Resources.

Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) is an innovative, youth-driven, and successful nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce juvenile crime and incarceration through legal education, mentoring, and peer leadership services. Through our 3 core programs, FLY serves over 3,000 at-risk youth, helping them to identify and build their strengths, empowering them to transform from juvenile delinquents into positive community leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Foundation Grant Writing

• Draft and assemble grant proposals for submission
• Track submission deadlines, proposal status, and follow-up with prospective funders
• Prepare grant award summaries for internal tracking
• Assist with special activities to increase visibility among foundation/corporate audiences

Donor Fundraising

• Develop/coordinate communications for current and prospective donors
• Prepare acknowledgement letters
• Maintain electronic and hard-copy donor files
• Attend grant-, volunteer- or community stakeholder- meetings on behalf of FLY

Fundraising Appeals

• Work with Director to create theme and messaging for mail pieces
• Create timeline, create and organize mail folder, track success.
• Order materials for appeals and organize assembly (volunteers or staff)

Plan Fundraising Events

• Work with Community Resources Director on event strategy and planning
• Create invitations; pull invitation data, track rsvp list, event walk through, menu, etc.
• Create and organize event folder
• Track expenses, budget and work with vendors

Database

• Gift entry, tracking, and reporting
• Update and track donor meetings, conversation and research in donors account
• Enter and track Volunteers from orientations in ETO

Communications

• Prepare, edit, and collate marketing materials across programs
• Update marketing materials
• Insure marketing materials are available and (re)order/fill when necessary
• Assisting Community Resources Director in creating Newsletter

Volunteer Management

• Review volunteer applications and refer volunteers to appropriate department
• Send email to interested parties, secure meeting place and create volunteer packet
• Work with Program Directors on volunteer needs, updated department information and check status of referred volunteers

Provide Other Administrative Support As Needed

Organizational Duties:

Attend All Staff, Program Meetings, and Trainings

• Attend organization and Program meetings/trainings including: monthly staff meetings, staff trainings, staff retreats, and ETO trainings
• Participate in “all- staff” events (i.e. Showcase Events and youth retreat)
• Attend and support one event from Legal Education, Mentoring, and Leadership
• Occasionally assist in running and preparing for various meetings

Postion Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills

Experience in event coordination, volunteer management, work in not-for profit sector experience, and work with grants and proposals would all be considered strong assets.

Passion for youth, aspiring (or current) changemaker, and desire to join an amazing organization are highly desired qualities.

         • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written - are required
         • Strong organizational and customer service skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, volunteers, donors, prospects, and clients
         • Ability to work independently as well as support team members and program
         • Strong multitasking skills and attention to detail are a must
         • Excellent computer skills – experience with Exceed database a plus
         • Availability for evening and weekend special events

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, ideally 2-3 years experience

Status

This is a full-time position with benefits, paid an annual salary of $37 - 40,000 DOE.
